Bluecourt dental practice in Harrow are honoured to be the dentist of Mr Ken Woolcott, aged 95 who has recently been awarded an MBE for services to the fitness industry in the 2012 Queens Birthday Honours List. Ken has had a long and distinguished career in sport and health which led him to create the highly successful Popmobility concept in 1967, this went on to change the face of personal fitness throughout the 1970s.
Ken says that the original idea behind Popmobility was to create a series of exercise routines for all ages designed to take the monotony out of exercises by setting them to music. At the time it was a totally original idea which made exercising fun. As the concept grew Popmobility exercise routines began to be used in general fitness training as well as tennis, gymnastics, badminton, cricket and netball. The company released three LP records in response to an overwhelming appeal from all over the country.
As a sports enthusiast,Kenwas also senior coach for the British Amateur Athletics Board and lives his life based on his 3Es principle:
- If you enjoy something…
- …you will find the enthusiasm…
- …and if you have the enthusiasm you will find the energy to do it…
What a great sentiment to live life by.
We’d like to take this public opportunity to completely congratulate Ken on his lifetime achievements, for adding so much to the personal fitness world and for being recognised this with his MBE.
