“My front tooth is hitting my bottom lip”

This patient from Harrow did not like her upper front teeth.  The two front teeth were slightly overlapping and one was protruding forward.  Every time she smiled, her tooth hit her lower lip.

After discussing the treatment options with Dr Dixit, the Inman Aligner was the best option for her. The two front teeth were lined up together and the protruding tooth was pushed back.

All this treatment took approximately 12-14 weeks.

The patient was very happy with the result achieved.

” I was very impressed at how fast the Inman Aligner worked. It was very comfortable to wear and very discreet.  Taking it in and out was very easy .  Dr Dixit explained the treatment to me very clearly and I was very happy with my teeth. When I smile now, my tooth does not hit my lip. “

After an extensive consultation with Dr Dixit, the  bridge and veneers were removed and the decay was cleaned out .  The old bridge was replaced with a new bridge and the veneers were replaced with new crowns.

The patient was very delighted with the final result.

Brushing with poor oral health

Nearly half the population regularly fails to brush its teeth before bedtime, according to a survey for National Smile Month. The research carried out by the British Dental Health Foundation (BDHF) earlier this year, found that more than a third of men and almost 60 per cent of women questioned did not always brush their teeth before bedtime. A small number of those questioned, just 11 per cent, said they regulary skipped brushing in the morning.

Tips for fresher breath

 Tips for fresher breath

1. To test if you have bad breath, simply lick the inside of your wrist, let it dry and sniff. If the smell is bad, you can be fairly sure you have bad breath.

2. Clean in between your teeth with ‘interdental’ brushes or floss. This will help clean all parts of the tooth and remove food caught between teeth.

3. Don’t forget to brush your tongue, or use a tongue scraper.

4. Chew sugar-free gum to stimulate saliva to help prevent your mouth from drying out.

5. If your bad breath continues, visit us at Blue Court Dental for advice and cleaning tips.

TEETH WHITENING

I’m thinking of having my teeth whitened.  Can I do it myself of should I get it done professionally?

This is a  frequently asked question especially with so many off-the-shelf whitening products now available.  It is crucial to discuss this with your dentist in order to ensure a safe and effective outcome.

The first thing we will do is to determine if your teeth are suitable for whitening and to discuss which methods are best for you.  The professional whitening procedures involve a stronger whitening process than the shop-bought products and therefore more effective.

They also avoid problems than can occur with a DIY shop-bought kit such as patchy-looking teeth and sensitivity.  Finally, we can also give you top-up kits for use at home to help keep your teeth sparkling and white
